| Sometime between 1840-1850, a young Mr. Reid came to America from County Antrim, Ireland. He had lost his young wife and left a surviving son with the grandmother, and had set sail for America. He settled in the then known Fishing Creek Irish Community of South Carolina. This community consisted of parts of Chester, Lancaster, Fairfield, and York of Kershaw County.
