From Esther Reid Hunnicutt, 3/9/02:
Aunt Lydia died at 5:30 a.m. (today). Saralyn had come in from CA last Wednesday, as she went to the hospital a week ago. She was with her when she died. Saralyn told me yesterday that they were giving Aunt Lydia fluids and she swelled from this and was in much pain. Saralyn told them to discontinue this and they did and gave her a pain patch. She was much more comfortable then. Saralyn stayed with her through the night and was there when she died. She was 90 last month. Aunt Sarah, Uncle Bill, and Aunt Becky went down to Rock Hill to her birthday lunch. Everyone took a flower and they took one for me. I am sorry I was not there because I have gone every year. I guess she died of cancer as she has had it a long time and it was a type that was very slow growing. Just not sure. The funeral is at 2 pm in Rock Hill at the First ARP Church. The burial will be at Union ARP Church in Richburg where all the Reids are buried and Uncle Bob. She is the last of Granny's generation. I am sending a large donation to the cemetery fund down there since all of Granny's family is buried there and they certainly need the money. |
